Backlink Profile from About.me is a privately-owned web hosting company that was established by Ryan Freitas, Tony Conrad along with Tim Young in October 2009. This website offers an open online platform that anybody can contribute their ideas about blogs, articles, and other blogs. The site offers users a simple platform for connecting various websites, related external websites, and prominent social networks like Tumblr, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube. It's distinct by the user profiles, which have a single page, and come with an impressive background image, typically with beautiful designs and brief bios.
On the 20th of December, 2010 just four days following the launch of its website, About.me was acquired by AOL. The company remained with AOL for a little more than 25 months.
On February 5th 2013 it was revealed that Conrad was able to buy back the most control over About.me from AOL While no details were made public about the cost of the acquisition, Conrad did say that it was only a fraction of the cost AOL paid for the original purchase of the site. Conrad was of the opinion that there was nothing to gain from being controlled by AOL and the site was not match with AOL's current business model (which has focused on online content over Social Networking services). The site reverted to being an unprofitable startup, and launched another round of funding following the announcement.
On February 21 the 21st of February, 2019. About.me was purchased by Broadly.
